From 2ef62c56701f578c8a15fe74058c771ab1c3defb Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: karti-ai <176560021+karti-ai@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Fri, 28 Aug 2026 16:42:52 -0700 Subject: [PATCH] All four arms captured: the number moves from 0/8 to 4/8 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit 32 recorded rollouts, 8 seeds x 4 agents, every one replaying through the Python engine to a delta of exactly 0. arm solved economy consistency total base-off 0/8 0.000 0.122 0.0244 base-on 4/8 0.469 0.479 0.4865 cautious 8/8 0.944 1.000 0.9831 solver 8/8 1.000 0.719 0.9437 Thinking-off solves none of eight. The same model on the same seeds, sampled with thinking on, solves four. That is the headline, it is ours, and it needed no training — which is also why the run is labelled an intervention and names what was done to it, so a sampling change can never read as a training result. `cautious` is new and it exists to make the reward editor honest. Until now the page invited you to move a slider and watch the ranking change, and no slider changed anything, because the solver dominated a model that solved nothing. A candidate-only player — most informative guess among words that could still win — takes consistency outright and pays for it in turns. Now: only speed matters solver 0.9859 cautious 0.9606 -> solver shipped weights solver 0.9437 cautious 0.9831 -> cautious punish contradictions solver 0.8312 cautious 0.9972 -> cautious The ranking really does flip, on recorded data, with one slider. The first version of this arm picked the alphabetically-first candidate and opened on 'abaci', which made the policy the counterweight exists to reward look like a straw man. 190 contract checks pass. Need letters likely. Common letters remaining: s,t,o,u,l,i,d,m,p,h,b,f,g,w,y,v,k,j,q,z,x. Need pick five high-frequency non-crane. Common 5-letter words: \"stout\" (s t o u t) repeats t; maybe \"stool\", \"stoup\", \"stout\". \"sloth\" (s l o t h). \"solid\" (s o l i d). \"spoil\" etc. Need guess with distinct high-frequency letters. Since all five in crane excluded, choose letters among most common: s,t,o,u,l,i,d,m,p,h,b. A good distinct guess: \"sloth\" = s,l,o,t,h. Or \"stoul\" not word. \"stomp\" = s,t,o,m,p. \"stoup\" = s,t,o,u,p. \"stole\" has e excluded. \"stool\" repeats. \"stout\" repeats. \"solid\" = s,o,l,i,d. \"spoil\" = s,p,o,i,l. \"spout\" = s,p,o,u,t. \"slump\" = s,l,u,m,p. \"plumb\" = p,l,u,m,b. \"blush\" = b,l,u,s,h. \"bloom\" = b,l,o,o,m. \"smith\" = s,m,i,t,h. \"stump\" = s,t,u,m,p. \"sloth\" all common. Which is best? Need likely choose a word that gives max info. All letters not in word? If all X again, eliminate. We have 5 guesses left. Use high-frequency letters. Maybe choose \"stoup\"? Contains s,t,o,u,p. But p less common than h/l/i/d/m. \"sloth\" has s,l,o,t,h all very common. But h less? \"solid\" has s,o,l,i,d all common and no rare. \"spoil\" includes p. \"stomp\" includes p,m. \"stout\" repeats t but includes u. \"stoup\" includes u,p. \"stump\" includes u,m,p. \"blush\" includes b,h. \"smith\" includes m,i,h,t. \"slime\" has e excluded. \"stilt\" repeats t. \"stole\" e. \"stool\" repeats. \"stout\" repeat. \"stoup\" maybe. Need guess valid. Could choose \"sloth\". But if word has no s,l,o,t,h? Many possibilities. Maybe choose \"stoup\"? Need not overthink. But perhaps game expects strategic. Need only bracketed token. Choose [sloth]? Let's consider frequency: Top 5 letters excluding c,r,a,n,e: s,t,o,u,l,i,d,m,p,h,b,f,g,w,y,v,k,j,q,z,x. Most common in English 5-letter words maybe s,t,o,u,l. But \"stoul\" not word. \"stout\" repeats t; \"stoup\" valid? stoup is a word (a cup). \"stoul\" no. \"stout\" valid but duplicate. \"stoup\" uses s,t,o,u,p. p maybe okay. \"stomp\" valid, s,t,o,m,p. \"stump\" valid, s,t,u,m,p. \"stout\" has t twice, maybe less info but tests t and u/o/s. \"stoup\" all distinct and common except p. \"stoup\" maybe less common but valid. \"sloth\" all distinct common. Which yields better entropy? Need maybe use wordle solver mentally. Since crane all X, possible words are 5-letter no c r a n e. Need guess. Common Wordle strategy after excluding top letters? Maybe use \"stout\" or \"stoup\". Let's think of likely secret words. If using Wordle answer list, after crane X, many answers. Need maximize. Could pick \"stoup\"? But if not in allowed guess list? Usually any 5-letter word. Stoup is valid but obscure. Sloth is common. Solid common. Spout common. Stomp common. Stump common. Smith common. Blush common. Bloat? b,l,o,a,t (a excluded). Bloom b,l,o,o,m. Blunt b,l,u,n,t (n excluded). Blush b,l,u,s,h. Could choose \"blush\" includes b,l,u,s,h. But s,l,h common, u common, b moderate. \"slush\" repeats s. \"stump\" includes p,m,u. \"stoup\" includes p,u. \"stomp\" includes m,p. \"stout\" includes u and duplicate t. \"spout\" includes p,u. \"spoil\" includes p,i,l. \"solid\" includes i,d. \"smith\" includes m,i,t,h. \"stilt\" repeats t. \"stole\" e. \"stool\" repeat. \"stoup\" maybe best distinct high freq: s,t,o,u,p. p not top but okay. \"stump\" s,t,u,m,p. m more common than o? Actually o very common. \"stoup\" has o. \"stomp\" s,t,o,m,p. m common. \"stoup\" has u. \"stump\" no o. Which letters more likely? s,t,o are very common. u,m,p less. \"stomp\" all distinct and common. Is stomp valid? yes. It tests s,t,o,m,p. Good. \"stoup\" tests s,t,o,u,p. u vs m. m frequency maybe higher than u? In English, m > u? Wordle answers maybe m slightly? But u common too. \"stomp\" maybe better. \"stout\" repeats t but includes u. \"stoup\" includes u. Could choose \"stomp\". But need ensure not using excluded c,r,a,n,e. stomp okay. Let's think if \"stomp\" is a valid 5-letter word in Wordle? yes likely. Could output [stomp]. But maybe \"sloth\" more common. Need only guess.\n\nNeed maybe use a known optimal first guess after crane? If I can simulate? Could reason. The game probably simple, no need optimal. But to maximize, choose distinct high-frequency letters not in crane. Candidate: \"stoup\" maybe from Wordle starting guesses? Common starting words: crane, slate, audio, ratio, adieu, arena, slant, crane, probe, stoup? \"stoup\" maybe not. \"stout\" maybe. \"stomp\" maybe. \"stilt\" etc. Since crane eliminated c r a n e, next maybe \"stoup\"? Many Wordle players use \"stoup\"? Not sure. \"stout\" is common. But duplicates reduce distinct info. \"stoup\" distinct. \"stoup\" is valid? stoup: a cup, especially of wood or horn. It's in dictionaries. Might be accepted. \"stoup\" has p, u. \"stoup\" maybe less likely to be secret but okay.\n\nCould choose \"stout\" because very common and tests s,t,o,u. But duplicate t: if t G at pos2 or pos5? Actually stout: s t o u t. If t present, one G maybe if pos2 or pos5, or Y if other. If t absent, X. Duplicates can complicate but okay. Distinct letters more information: 4 distinct vs 5. So stoup better.\n\nNeed maybe choose \"stoup\" or \"stomp\". Which one has better letter set? s,t,o common; p vs m/u. We have 5 guesses left, can afford. Maybe choose \"stoup\" to test u and p. But if p absent, m/u? Next can test m. \"stomp\" tests m and p but not u. u is common. \"stoup\" tests u not m. m common. Which is more likely? In 5-letter words, m frequency maybe ~? u maybe ~? Top letters: e t a o i n s h r d l u c m f y w g p b v k. Excluding e,t,a,o,i,n,s,h,r,d,l,c? Wait excluded c,r,a,n,e. Remaining top: t,o,i,s,l,u,m,f,y,w,g,p,b,v,k. Actually i and l are top. Our crane excluded a,n,e,c,r, leaving i,l,t,o,s,u,m,p... We didn't test i,l. Maybe a better guess should include i and l. \"solid\" = s,o,l,i,d. d is top. \"spoil\" = s,p,o,i,l. \"slim\" 4. \"stilt\" = s,t,i,l,t (repeat). \"stilt\" valid? stilt 5 letters: s t i l t. It includes i,l,s,t and duplicate t. \"stilt\" tests i,l,s,t. \"stilt\" maybe good. \"stilt\" is valid. But duplicate t. \"stilt\" has 4 distinct. \"stilt\" maybe common. \"stilt\" includes i,l which are very common and untested. \"stilt\" no o/u/m/p. \"stilt\" maybe better than stoup because i,l high.
